Kehillat Israel is a reconstructionist synagogue in Pacific Palisades. Our Public Safety Officers are a vital part of our organization ensuring the safety of all members of our community as well as acting as a frontline of security and protection.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures safety and security of KI’s campus.
• Identifies threats, potential threats and other potential safety concerns.
• Works closely with preschool and religious school leaders to ensure the safety of students, parents, and staff.
• Maintains daily logs of packages, guests, and staff arriving on site.
• Performs a variety of safety and security tasks.
• In the event of an emergency, acts swiftly and collaboratively with KI staff in coordination with outside agencies (law enforcement, fire department, etc.).
• Participates in regular emergency drills including, but not limited to, fire, earthquake, active shooter, and shelter in place.
• Maintains thorough understanding of all emergency response protocols with regular updates, taking into account local, state, and national concerns.
• Exhibits friendly and professional demeanor at all times and provides high quality customer service.

Requirements:

● At least 2 years of experience in armed security

● Possess and maintain the following security certificates and licenses:

- BSIS CA Guard Card, BSIS OC Permit, BSIS Baton Permit, BSIS Firearm Permit

- Completion of SB 1626

- POST Certified Taser Permit

- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification

- Valid CA Driver License and current automobile insurance coverage

● Successfully pass a background check after a conditional offer of employment is made that meets state, federal and local requirements

● Trustworthy, responsible, and personable

● Courteous, respectful, responsive, and professional at all times

● Quick thinker able to exercise sound judgment

● Possess the highest level of discretion and integrity

● Physical demands include:

- Able to occasionally lift/carry and push/pull between 50 and 100 lbs.

- Able to stand for extended periods of time

- Physically and mentally capable of successfully handling and participating in all defensive tactics to include, but not limited to, verbal confrontations, de-escalation of force, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray, Baton, TASER, Firearms training, and Active Shooter Training

- Able to physically survey and inspect the property daily and be exposed to outdoor elements

● Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred

● Familiarity with heightened security operations preferred but not required

Anticipated Work Schedule:

• Primarily weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays) as well as some weeknights
• Approximately 10 - 30 hours per week (depending on organization’s schedule and programming)

Salary Range:
Between $20.00 - $27.00 per hour. Actual compensation within the range will depend on a variety of factors including skill levels, experience, and qualifications
