Benton Community School Corporation is Hiring an Assistant Principal Near Oxford, IN

Assistant High School PrincipalPosition PurposeUnder the general supervision of a High School Principal, to assist the Principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of a High School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.
  • To provide leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development.
  • To serve as Principal in the absence of the Principal.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Reports directly to the principal
  • Observer and evaluates all assigned personnel in accordance with district adopted guidelines
  • Assists principal with interviews for new staff
  • Assist in the creation and revision of student handbook policies
  • Maintains school discipline and promotes a positive school environment
  • Communicates discipline to students, teachers and parents/guardians
  • Completes all necessary discipline paperwork
  • Develops behavior plans as appropriate
  • Assist with transportation related discipline
  • Serves as school liaison to probation department
  • Assists with annual discipline reports as needed
  • Assists with building supervision
  • Supervise evening activities
  • Assists in areas of school safety
  • Acts as Principal in absence of Principal
  • Attends IEP and 504 meetings
  • Collaborates with Special Education teacher when dealing with student discipline
  • Collaborate with guidance counselors to address student needs
  • Perform general administrative duties
  • Attends professional conferences and workshops, department meetings, and school board meetings as requested
Attendance
  • Monitors attendance of students and communicates directly with Attendance Secretary.
  • ?Assigns appropriate attendance related discipline and communicates attendance concerns to students and parents.
  • Chairs Attendance Committee
  • Create Attendance Contracts
  • Reports attendance concerns to Department of Child Services and/or Probation/Prosecutor's Office
Facilitates Credit Recovery Program
  • Maintains available seats and renewal process
  • Communicates with Guidance Counselors regarding needs and availability
  • Works directly with Credit Recovery staff regarding policy and supervision of students in the program
Maintains and Monitors EL Services
  • Coordinates EL scheduling in the building
  • Works directly with EL Paraprofessional to provide resources and guidance
  • Assist in the development of EL TORs in the corporation
  • Attends WVEC Title III Consortium meetings as necessary
  • Monitors WIDA Testing - Corporation and Building Level
  • Communicates WIDA Teasing information to Elementary Principals
  • Assists Elementary Principals with questions regarding EL students
  • Develop ILP's - BC only
Coordinates all K-12 Testing for the Corporation
  • Create a Master Test Calendar for the Corporation
  • Communicates all testing requirements, training, and calendars to the School Test Coordinators
  • Attend all IDOE required Corporation Test Coordinator training
  • Assist School Test Coordinators with testing implementation
  • Create and communicate the necessary Test Security information
  • Disseminate Mandated K-12 Date to School Test Coordinators
  • Create appropriate accounts for test administrators in all IDOE mandated test sites
Coordinates all 7-12 mandated testing at Benton Central
  • Develop schedules for testing
  • Maintain test security
  • Train test administrators and proctors
  • Communicate Test Results to parents, students, and teacher
  • Ensure Test Results are entered in SIS and filed in permanent records
  • Communicate with Testing vendors and coordinate necessary PD
Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.

  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to develop and implement projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWork in standard office and school building environments.

Certification/LicenseQualifications Profile
  • Indiana State Certification as required for position.
  • Teaching Certification in related area (i.e., High School or subject area and grade level).
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
  • Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration or other related educational discipline.
ExperienceExtensive successful teaching experience at the High School level, preferably in more than one subject area and grade level.
Successful experience as an administrator in the High School level preferred.
