A New Leaf is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician Near Owasso, OK

Description

JOB SUMMARY 

To maintain the grounds, buildings, and vehicles in working order. All the tools and equipment of A New Leaf (ANL) may be used; however, the position will be required to provide own tools to complete.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Have and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license. Have dependable vehicle at all times. Have and maintain automobile insurance coverage at all times. Maintain eligibility to operate agency vehicles. 
  2. Physical capacities must include bending, stooping, and lifting a minimum of 40 pounds. 
  3. Work flexible schedule based on schedules of persons served by and needs of A New Leaf.
  4. Follow policy and procedures of A New Leaf. 
  5. Ensures all individuals served are safe in their working environment and program participation at all times. 
  6. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, (complete requires documentation and reports required by A New Leaf) 

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Grounds: 

  1. Mow and upkeep of all flower beds, grass, trees at all facilities. Manage vendor relationships for any outside mowers or snow removal companies. 
  2. Paint or repair outside of facilities as needed.
  3. Maintain the greenhouses in good repair, winterizing and preparing them for spring use as needed.

Vehicles: 

  1. Maintain all vehicles on a regular maintenance routine, including things such as oil changes, tires and mechanical review. 
  2. Maintain and submit vehicle monthly and quarterly vehicle usage reports.
  3. Arrange all transporting of vehicles to appropriate vendors for repair (oil, tires, engine, etc.). 

Facilities: 

  1. Maintenance will include but not limited to areas such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and other maintenance issues in and around the properties as needed.
  2. Work in conjunction with house managers, directors, or direct care staff to arrange any repairs.
  3. Maintain the facilities in good repair through painting and pro-active repair.

Other: 

  1. This may include any last minute or emergency calls to repair items that pose a safety concern to individuals in ANL programs.
  2. Required to procure supplies and parts; however, all supplies/parts needed for repairs will be purchased by ANL.
  3. Performs other duties as requested to meet the needs of ANL. 

Requirements

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to demonstrate ability and expertise in maintenance and repair of facilities and vehicles.
  • Strong administrative skills in maintaining facility and vehicle records and reports. 
  • Ability to coordinate with subcontractors/vendors and suppliers on technical issues related to vehicle and facility maintenance. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Criminal arrest check will be done through the OSBI; any person with a felony conviction will not work for A New Leaf (Section 1025.1 et seq. Of Title 56 of the Oklahoma statues, House Bill 1790). A background check will be requested form the OSBI. Any prospective employee with a felony or misdemeanor conviction, guilty plea or plea of nolo contendere will not be eligible for employment. This prohibition may be disregarded if an appropriate waiver is obtained from the Office of the Director, Developmental Disabilities Service Division, Department of Human Services, or his/her designees, and the Board of Trustees of A New Leaf approves such waiver. 
  • Community Services Registry check (House Bill 1790) will be done through Developmental Disabilities Services Division, Department of Human Services, and the person whose name appears on the registry cannot work for A New Leaf. 
  • Employees and A New Leaf are engaged in an at-will employment relationship, meaning that either are free to terminate the relationship at any time with or without reason and with or without notice. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum age – 21 years old. 
  • Knowledge and skills as a handy/maintenance man. 
  • Knowledge of vehicles and vehicle maintenance procedures. 
  • Tools to accomplish the job and experience in the field. 
  • Expressed desire to work with person with developmental disabilities.
  • Positive attitude toward working with diverse population. 
  • Physical ability to conduct training involving manual labor.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • Final hiring pending on OSBI background check, clean driving record, Community Services Registry check and pre-employment screening.
