Mahaska Communications Group (MCG) is hiring a Graphic Designer to collaborate with MCG’s Creative Production Manager and Marketing Team to design visual storytelling that engages, informs, and transforms concepts into visual representations for both print and electronic media, supporting MCG’s marketing plans and corporate goals. MCG offers internet and phone services to several communities in southern Iowa. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shift an abstract concept into a visual design.
• Work closely with the MCG Marketing Team to interpret a project's objectives and goals and translate that into a creative asset.
• Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with the MCG Marketing Team on a wide range of materials that may include graphics for the following: website, clothing, product and services collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, social media, job ads, community projects, and marketing materials.
• Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within the MCG established brand identity.
• Design all forms of layout and production work, develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content by determining the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
• Manage all project materials' design and uploading process while monitoring and maintaining electronic files, department supplies, and equipment.
• Keep apprised and knowledgeable of current trends and innovations in visual art and how to integrate new techniques into projects.
• Assist and work closely with the video production & photography team.

Job Specifications:

• Actively participates and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

• Three or more years of experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising performance or accuracy
• Desire to continue building skill set with education and training

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Three or more years of experience in professional graphic design, preferably within a creative or marketing department or agency.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline.
• Knowledge of design or content management systems
• Experience and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Programs
