Lakeside Hotel Casino is Hiring a Cook Near Osceola, IA

We are dedicated to delivering a value-oriented product in a convenient, welcoming, and casual atmosphere. 

This position is responsible for setting up the kitchen Line and coordinating items to be used on the Line. As assigned, this position may be responsible for the flat top, hot side, entrees, and sides for an entire line/venue. This position assists in all clean-up and shutting down of the shift they are working and constantly makes an effort to improve working conditions and procedures to upgrade food quality set by the Executive Chef. 

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS INCLUDE (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Sets up, services, and cleans up assigned food production stations.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of all kitchen areas, including, but not limited to, grill, sauté, fry, steamer, prep, and pantry.
  • Prepares all food items according to standard recipes to ensure product consistency and quality.
  • Works with the team to respond to customer requests and special needs.
  • Completes special projects as requested.
  • Highly proficient knife skills.
  • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
  • Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item.
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor.
  • Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders.
  • Apportions food for serving.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times; cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation.
  • Completes food temperature checks before service.
  • Assist other kitchen personnel as needed.
  • Transport food and supplies to workstations as needed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English in all manners.
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work required shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess advanced knife skills and knowledge of all kitchen equipment usage, kitchen safety, and etiquette.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
