What is Job Corps? Job Corps is the country's most extensive nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for over 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24, complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

Oneonta Job Corps offers training in the Medical Trades: Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, and Medical Administrative Assistant. Auto Trades: Auto Body Collision and Repair, Auto Mechanics, Auto Technology. Construction Trades: Tile Setting, Cement Mason, and Electrical. Advanced Trades: Overhead Line Electrical, Rural Underground Distribution, SMART Meter, and Drone Piloting. 

Position Available: Substance Abuse Counselor (TEAP)

The Substance Abuse Counselor will work Full-Time Monday through Friday. 

In this position, you will support our students by:

• Maintaining an effective Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) through alcohol and drug counseling, prevention, and education. 
• Networking with community resources. 
• Assessing students to determine intervention needs.
• Conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Following up on drug testing.
• Developing activities to reinforce an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle. 
• Conducting in-service training.

We are looking for someone who is/has:

• Proficient with the use of common computer software such as Microsoft Office 365: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. 

Educational Requirements: 

• MUST HAVE (CASAC) Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification, or must have CASAC-T, and be able to show that you are in the process of obtaining the CASAC, which you must obtain within one year of having the CASAC-T.
• Two years of related experience
• Valid New York State driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
