RESPONSIBILITES: Under the guidance of the Deputy State Auditor and the Chief Financial Officer the accountant provides financial accounting, administrative and clerical support to the agency. Typical functions performed in this job will vary but may include the following:

  • Maintains employees leave balances and reconciles to the state’s Workday system.
  • Enters approximately 60 employee’s timesheets into our billing system.
  • Reconciles timesheet information to Workday.
  • Prepare prebills, invoices and coordinates with audit managers for final approval.
  • Reviews travel claims for compliance with state law.
  • Administers the agency’s fleet program, agency fleet vehicle reporting and approves fleet invoices.
  • Coordinates, prepares, records, and transcribes proceedings of quarterly pension meetings.
  • Assembles audit reports and prepares for release to the agency website.
  • Performs administrative and general office duties and functions for the Agency Director and senior level management staff.
  • Participates or assists in agency projects, programs, or reporting by reviewing, preparing requested information and other duties as needed.
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of three (3) years of accounting/bookkeeping/office manager, preferability state experience, including experience as an assistant or secretary, or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of college for each one (1) year of experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: To be a successful candidate, we prefer a candidate to know and understand the state Workday system and be proficient using Excel, Word, and Access. Also, be knowledgeable with the state accounting manual, state statutes, and generally accepted accounting principles. The candidate should be detailed oriented and exercise ethical business judgement.

SALARY/BENEFITS: The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s Office offers the following benefits package:

  • Competitive salary - entry level $50,000-57,000 range; salary is commensurate with education, certifications, and experience.

  • Defined Benefit Contribution Plan – 457 Plan – Deferred Compensation (unless currently enrolled in Defined Contribution plan)

  • 15 days Sick Leave per year – monthly accrual to begin immediately.
  • Hybrid work schedule which includes a blend of telework and in-office work.
  • CPE training provided/Educational leave for certifications.
