OBJECTIVE: People and management skills of this position are as important as the need to understand and embrace work effectively not only as a team leader, but also as a team player and able to motivate staff. Under the supervision of the Ranch Manager, the Landscape Foreman supervises and assists with all landscape related projects at Harlan, Bond, and Residence. The main areas of responsibility are overseeing and coordinating all daily landscaping operations. Assures the effective functioning of all irrigation systems for the landscape and provides an efficient and safe working environment for all employees. Uses best business practices to manage resources, schedules, and processes to meet the needs of the company. Will also support Vineyard, Facilities and Ranch teams as needed.
PURPOSE: To provide a safe work environment and have aesthetically pleasing grounds
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the completion of specific tasks and to ensure quality standards are met
  • Provide input for performance tracking and disciplinary actions for landscape personnel
  • Maintains all property landscape including but not limited to all wineries, public areas, and Family Residence.
  • Works directly with Ranch Manager & Ownership to develop and maintain appropriate schedule and staff for all areas of responsibility.
  • Interfaces with ranch manager to receive information regarding landscape maintenance needs, ensures timely response to request.
  • Assist Landscape team with the maintenance/cleaning of all Landscape equipment
  • Support ranch manager in daily project management, including determining contractors’ scope of services and work schedules.
  • Investigates and evaluates new materials, systems and equipment which may benefit the company in its landscape maintenance programs.
  • Assist ranch manager in performing property inspections
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports
  • Assist in creating quarterly performance reports
  • Establishes and maintains daily work schedules, maintenance records and inventory of equipment.
  • Develops and implements a landscape maintenance program for all landscape areas
  • Ensures all daily maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to specifications.
  • Manages daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly landscape maintenance schedules and task lists.
  • Monitors all landscape areas for erosion issues during rainy season
  • Collaborate with ranch manager to recruit new employees when necessary
  • Perform duties normally associated with ranch manager in order to complete necessary tasks
  • Schedules, supervises and coordinates the work of the labor force
  • Regularly inspects the progress and quality of service/repair work
  • Reports errors, violations, incidents or problems immediately
  • Maintain file system for management office
  • Identify training and development needs of direct reports
  • Interfaces with government officials concerning inspections, OSHA regulations and related business.
  • Schedule overtime as authorized. Review and recommend approval of timecard.
  • Assist in the coordination of vacation/time off schedules
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in good working condition and stored in a properly manner
  • Oversees inventory of tools, safety gear and materials
  • Pickup/deliver materials
  • Install and repair infrastructure
  • Tree cutting, pruning and thinning
  • Use of heavy equipment
  • Maintenance
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with annual grape harvest
  • Assist with building of hiking trails
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
Safety ResponsibilitiesAll employees must follow all Company safety rules.
  • Ensure that all landscape employees are educated on and are following proper safety procedures
  • Coordinate safety training of personnel to ensure training is properly accomplished and documented
  • Any injury and/or accident, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor or to Human Resources.
  • If injured, and when requested by Domain Services, LLC, the injured worker must visit the Company’s designated occupational health provider for a medical evaluation to
determine fitness for duty
  • Where required, and without exception, employees must wear/use mandated PPE
  • Machines without adequate guards or guards in questionable condition must not be used and reported to supervisor
  • Hazardous conditions and other safety concerns must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor
  • Failure to follow the rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment
Qualification Requirements
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagraph form
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager or employees
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • At least 5 years experience in leadership or supervision
  • Must be highly organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands
  • Knowledge of safe and effective in use and maintenance of mid-sized equipment (chainsaws, weed whackers etc.) and heavy equipment (loaders, excavators etc.)
  • Detail oriented approach to work with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Microsoft Word & Outlook proficiency
Pay Transparency Disclosure: The pay scale for this position is $43.00-$50.00. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data.
