Job Description Summary

The HIM Indexing & Quality Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient information by accurate and timely indexing / scanning documents into the electronic health records and performs quality checks to ensure documents are being scanned accurately.

Work Schedule : Monday thru Friday 8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm. Weekend and Holiday rotation

Key Responsibilities :

• Reviews and processes request for information, scans documents accurately into EHR, assist internal and external customers and understands State / Federal laws pertaining to confidentiality and releasing protected health information.
• Responsible for processing requests for information and maintaining confidentiality by adhering to state / federal laws and health system policies.
• Performs a variety of duties for the Health Information Management Department to ensure records are complete and all appropriate documentation is present.

Education / Experience :

• High School or GED, College Degree
• AHIMA credentials RHIA / RHIT preferred
• Experience with Scanning preferred
• Experience with Release of Information preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite ( MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe ) preferred

Skills :

• Effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team setting with internal and external constituents.
• Strong attention to detail and quality, exceptional organizations and time management skills are essential to the success of this role.
