Horry County Schools is Hiring an Athletic trainer Near North Myrtle Beach, SC

Job Summary

The individual is responsible for the prevention, care, rehabilitation of athletic injuries, and the administration of all facets of the athletic training room and program.

Essential Duties

  • Establish standard procedures for first aid and emergency care of athletes during practice and games.
  • Coordinate the supervision and rehabilitation of injured athletes.
  • Establish recommendations and provisions of appropriate training and conditioning procedures.
  • Establish and supervise a student-teacher trainer program.
  • Establish and supervise the operation of a well-equipped training room.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of appropriate consent forms.
  • Establish procedures for physical examination for all participants.

Other Duties

Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)

  • Completion of an approved Athletic Training Education Program.
  • Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer by BOC. (PLEASE ATTACH A VALID / UNEXPIRED BOC CERTIFICATE.)
  • State of South Carolina Certification as an Athletic Trainer through DHEC.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk;

sit; stoop or kneel; or crouch.

Additional physical requirements include the following :

  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students;
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Manual dexterity;
  • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone and
  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
