IOWA DONOR NETWORK is Hiring a Remote STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Job Title: Strategic Communications Specialist

Location: Remote with residency in Iowa

Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday- Friday

Hours: 8:30a-4:30p

Salary: Starting at $47,700

  • Iowa Donor Network determines final compensation based on education, experience, and skills relevant to the position.

Position Summary:

Responsible for driving impactful communication strategies and inspiring Iowans to embrace organ and tissue donation. From developing and executing marketing strategies to managing our website and brand, this role will play a vital role in expanding our reach and saving lives. The ideal candidate is a creative communicator with a passion for marketing and making a difference.


Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and analyze the results of Iowa Donor Network’s annual marketing strategy:
    • Ensure Iowa Donor Network is known and trusted.
    • Promote and grow Iowa’s Donor Registry.
    • Manage marketing campaigns within budget using effective channels.
    • Prepare and manage all email marketing campaigns.
    • Contribute to the growth of website traffic, social media platforms, and email marketing engagement.
    • Utilize digital analytics tools to assess strategy effectiveness and adapt as needed.
    • Create and disseminate Iowa Donor Network’s weekly internal e-newsletter.
    • Promote Iowa Donor Network through the LinkedIn account.
  • Brand Management:
  • Aid in developing documents, publications, and presentations.
    • Collaborate to create high-quality marketing and educational content for Iowa Donor Network events, campaigns, etc.
    • Manage Iowa Donor Network’s online apparel store.
  • Manage Iowa Donor Network’s website:
    • Update the website regularly with fresh content.
    • Apply SEO best practices to increase web traffic and donor registration.
    • Provide high-level customer service to website visitors


Position Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in marketing preferred (qualified internships are considered experience).


Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of SEO strategies, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google ads, and digital marketing platforms and analytic tools.
  • Ability to establish priorities, plan, manage projects, meet established deadlines, collaborate well with teams, and thrive while functioning independently.
  • Must be creative, adaptable, detail oriented, and dependable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.


Physical Requirements:

  • Lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work.
  • Express ideas verbally and convey detailed or important spoken information.
  • Receive detailed information through oral and auditory communication.
  • Must receive required vaccines based on outlined schedules to protect our employees, healthcare personnel, donors, recipients, and families we may come into contact. (e.g., Influenza obtained annually by December 1st)
