The Program Assistant is a part-time hourly position with seasonally variable hours. The position is contingent upon funding.

Duties are likely to include the following:

• maintaining native landscaping at EAC offices
• light facility maintenance
• light vehicle maintenance
• mowing, weed trimming, brush cutting, especially related to tree planting projects or restoration projects
• tree watering
• SDS coordination
• Equipment inventory management

Weekend and evening hours are required occasionally. Position is considered to be onsite and in-person at the Ecology Action Center offices at 202 W College Avenue, Normal, Illinois 61761.

Qualifications:

• Preferred course of study in environmental sciences, horticulture, or related discipline.
• 3 years of experience related to position duties
• Strong communication skills
• 3 years experience operating power equipment (mowers, brush cutters, etc.), and pulling trailers
• Ability to work occasional long hours and irregular schedules to accommodate programmatic needs
• Ability to stand for 4 or more hours at a time
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must provide own transportation, auto insurance, and have a satisfactory driving record
• CDL license or experience desirable
• Experience in exotic/invasive vegetation and brush removal highly desirable

The EAC acts as a central resource for environmental education, information, outreach, and technical assistance in McLean County.
