Hampton Roads Transit is Hiring a Money Room Attendant (HRT Internal Employees Only) Near Norfolk, VA


HRT Employees Only

Salary: $31,220.80

Days: Monday through Friday

Hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

Responsible for processing, depositing and reporting all transit revenues in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsible for the security of all transit revenues and equipment pertaining to collection, storage, and transportation of transit revenue. Responsible for the fulfillment of ticket orders pertaining to customer service and all ticket sales.

Essential Job Functions:

(Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.)

  • Empties cash boxes; unfolds, flattens, and faces paper currency; operates and monitors sorting and counting equipment to sort and account for cash and coin fare revenue.
  • Removes and secures coin bags on coin sorter and count machine.
  • Faces and sorts tickets from bill currency.
  • Deposits all revenue in receivers and vaults for safekeeping overnight.
  • Assist in making bank deposits.
    • Seals, tags, weighs, and moves bank deposits bags; secures bags awaiting daily pick up by armored car for delivery to bank.
  • Maintains security of the cash management office during hours of responsibility.
    • Performs all functions associated with the collection and deposit of funds.
    • Pulls fare media, counts, records serial numbers and verifies all ticket orders.
    • Cleans TVM Revenue modules and fills modules with correct revenue amount per module.
    • Verifies daily sales revenue and prepares deposit.
    • Copies daily paperwork and scans.
  • Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:

Knowledge of basic math. Establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.

Required Software Knowledge and Skills essential to Job Functions:

Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is essential. Basic problem-solving skills associated with software applications used is expected. Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.

Safety Responsibility:

Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures and policies. Take an active part in reporting unsafe conditions and any hazards within the workplace to their Supervisor, Manager and/or the Safety Department.

Training and/or Education:

Completion of standard high school curriculum or GED required.

Required Experience:

One-year cashiering or similar cash handling experience

Licenses or Certificates:

Possess a valid Driver's License. Acquire a Virginia Driver's License within 60 days after the date of hire (in instances when an out of state license is not the applicant's current state of residence).

Special Requirements:

Must be bondable and dependable. Employees are required to wear specialized clothing and subject to periodic, unannounced searches of their person and belongings. This position is classified as essential personnel.

Must be able to repeatedly move and lift 75 lbs. safely.
