CURRICULUM DIRECTOR

Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) seeks a creative, entrepreneurial, and highly organized individual to serve in the role of Curriculum Director. The Curriculum Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the educational experience students and families have at RCA, including texts, lesson plans, supplementary instructional materials, and assessments, as well as ensuring academic excellence and spiritual growth within RCA's homeschool hybrid model. In the near-term, the Curriculum Director will lead RCA's effort to establish a K-12 course map, with scope and sequence for each course, that supports RCA's educational mission, and lead the strategic roll-out.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of RCA's mission, deep affinity for classical education, and a commitment to continuous evaluation and improvement. He or she will be an experienced teacher, instructional designer, and project manager with proven success managing a team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead RCA task force to define a K-12 course map that realizes RCA's mission.
  • Recruit and manage subject and grade-level specific subcommittees to evaluate select learning materials (e.g. primary texts, additional resources) that support the course map in a spirit of collaboration and transparency.
  • Lead the development of evaluation instruments for all subcommittees to ensure the potential curriculum are evaluated in terms of how well they support RCA's mission, consistent academic progress, integration with the Catholic Faith.
  • Develop a prudent, multi-year plan for selection and roll-out of new curriculum that includes regular assessment of tutor and parent satisfaction and identification of support needs.
  • In keeping with the principle of subsidiarity, support and equip regional managers and center admins to implement curriculum effectively.
    • Clearly articulate and evaluate classical education methodology at every grade level through staff training and documentation.
    • Recruit, motivate, and hold accountable tutor support teams to prepare tutor training and on-going support, year after year.
    • Organize, curate, and maintain curriculum materials in one central online location that all CCEs and tutors can access.
    • Develop and implement ways of evaluating all RCA curriculum training, including admin training, resources for family onboarding, parent support, and staff training
    • Establish and communicate academic policies that promote RCA's educational mission, provide accurate assessments of student learning, and promote student responsibility for their own learning in age-appropriate ways.
  • Ensure assessment and communication to parents of student learning in all subject areas against scope and sequence objectives.
  • Develop and promulgate a consistent, responsive process for addressing errors and communicating curriculum updates to tutors and parents.
  • Identify strategic partners who will enhance RCA effectiveness and cultivate those relationships.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • A practicing Catholic with firm commitment to RCA's mission.
  • A spirit of teamwork, collaboration, humility, transparency, and service to families in all matter pertaining to RCA curriculum and operations.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency; commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in curriculum.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to communicate, inspire, and motivate curriculum writers, editors, tutors, staff, parents, and students.
  • Thorough understanding of Catholic classical education principles.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to communicate, prioritize, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Substantial K-12 teaching experience, preferably within Catholic educational settings.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including educators, administrators, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to drive curriculum improvements.
  • Familiarity with homeschooling models and hybrid education approaches.
  • Proficiency and openness to educational technology tools and learning management systems.
