General Description:
Medical Assistants are responsible for assisting the medical providers in the direct provision of primary care services to patients of the center. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for the preparation and inventory control of medical instruments and supplies.
Accountabilities and Job Activities:
1. Assists patients by taking vital signs, instructing patient preparation in exam room, providing exam drapes as needs.
2. Assists medical provider in exam process as required by department policy or procedure protocols.
3. Prepares exam rooms for patient care before and after patient encounter.
4. Instructs patient in procedure for laboratory specimen collection, provides directions as needed.
5. Maintains Medical Department equipment in accordance with Medical Department policy and protocol.
6. Maintains all Medical Department areas in compliance with Medical Department directives and protocols as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues.
7. Maintains adequate expendable medical supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes
8. Assists medical providers in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and filed.
9. Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters, clinic business and patient care of the Medical Department
10. Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the center as appropriate.
11. Insures the sterility of all reusable Medical instruments and equipment in accordance with the protocol.
12. Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with our policy as well as state and federal regulations.
13. Other duties as assigned.
