Actalent is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Near Niles, MI

Description:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and engineering and overall project coordination/project management of OEM equipment and systems. They will have to run projects from an engineering standpoint holding team to budgets, scheduling and working directly with customers. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish. Because this position is customer facing, it is important to have excellent communication.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

Develop the mechanical design of products using CAD

Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes

Manage project scope requirements, within budget and meeting project deadlines

Communicate cross functionally and directly with customers providing updates on project milestones

Perform analytical calculations and/or FEA simulations to support machine element designs and metal forming process requirements

Evaluate designs for manufacturability and cost control

Accurately apply GD&T to properly specify mechanical component fit and alignment precision

Conduct research to test or analyze the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components or systems

Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and make recommendations to rectify situation

Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification

Skills & Qualifications:

5 years of experience designing machines or equipment

Proficient in Solidworks or Inventor

Project Management experience

Proficient in engineering analysis or calculations

Hydraulics and pneumatics experience
