What you job will be like:
As a member of the Help Desk/User Services Group, the incumbent will provide front-line IT support and system administration for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux desktop computers, software applications, and IT services. Troubleshoot end user problems and devise appropriate solutions. Provide assistance to customers in-person, by telephone, and electronically. Work with other CST Division groups on projects to support the deployment and architecture of the computing, network and cybersecurity environments and IT services.
In this role you will:
User/Operational Support: Provide timely and effective support to JLab staff and users via ServiceNow, email, and helpdesk. Work alongside new staff and students to produce effective training practices to improve helpdesk operations.
On-Boarding New Hires: Support efforts with Human Resources, Property, hiring managers, and admin support staff to on-board new employees and contractors. This may include identifying computer equipment needs, shipping of equipment, and IT Consults to introduce our environment.
Student Mentoring/Training: Assist with training new Technical Student Interns on desktop computing, helpdesk procedures, and customer service. Mentor and oversee the work of interns as they progress in their internship.
Videoconferencing Support: Act as one of the Zoom for Government (ZoomGov) admins for the lab’s ZoomGov instance. Work to train new customers on how to use ZoomGov, Teams and other videoconferencing software. Provide assistance with IT Support for high-level meetings and consults for equipment overviews prior to events.
Support the various departments/groups within the CST Division on administration and operations of systems and networking infrastructure. This may include work on infrastructure with the Systems and Networking Teams, as well as hands-on work with the Scientific Computing Team.
Must be knowledgeable and experienced in customer services practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential. Knowledge of tools necessary for maintaining and disseminating documentation via the web. Must be able to use these tools. Ability to work effectively with staff and users in a multi-cultural environment. Must have an understanding of the operation of wired and wireless computer networks.

Experience:
2 or more years relevant experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to identify schedule conflicts within the group and provide solutions.
Demonstrates intermediate skills, knowledge and ability in one technology trade or specialty.
Knowledge of theory, design and techniques used at component level.
Basic skills, knowledge and ability in other technologies.
Demonstrates sound judgement in completing assignments.
Qualifications We Desire:
