Radiation Oncology Manager

The successful candidate:

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the operational activities for the technical areas of the Radiation Oncology Department. Assists the therapists and employees in the day-to-day operations of the Radiation Oncology Department. Assists the Director of Radiation Oncology in ensuring compliance with accrediting/regulatory agencies.

  • Creates effective working relationships with all employees. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Assumes authority and responsibility in the absence of the Director of Radiation Oncology. Represents the Radiation Oncology Department, as assigned, at various meetings and committees. Demonstrates the Mission, Vision and Values of COH.

  • Assess activities of the Radiation Oncology employees to ensure competency and proper standards are maintained related to Radiation services. Assesses patient wait times and patient flow.Ensures that treatment and proper follow up are maintained.Develop work and callback schedules.Proper distribution and delegation of work assignments.

  • Monitors monthly KPI's and supports the department's mission and goals. Strong orientation towards service excellence. Develop and update policy and procedures. Oversees and manages the accreditation process. Maintains departmental files and records according to state, federal, HIPAA, ACR, JCAHO and COH guidelines

  • Serves as an effective leader by managing the performance of the Radiation Oncology staff through delegation and coaching.Supervises Radiation Oncology employees.Provides input for hiring and termination decisions, assists with development of job descriptions and performance evaluations.Provides counseling and addresses disciplinary problems. Effectively addresses conflict and identifies opportunities for improvement.

  • Work with Radiation Oncologists to develop, improve and facilitate all department protocols. Effectively communicates and updates changes to employees. Implement QA programs and maintain ACR accreditation criteria throughout the department processes.

  • Responsible for financial activities to include daily charge reconciliation, inventory management and ordering.

  • Works with the Director of Radiation Oncology to develop and effectively manage departmental budget so that resources are used effectively and efficiently. Meet with vendors to select equipment that is needed. Acquire quotes and investigate all suppliers before selecting. Go to on-site visits as needed to help in decision making. Monitors and ensures adequate staffing and supplies while being mindful of budget restraints.

  • Maintains interactive communication with patients and caregivers.Demonstrates competence in applicable professional skills and participates in continuing education. Coordinates education opportunities for employees and patients. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nursing, or other Health related field required

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Nursing, or other Health related field preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years management experience required

  • 5 years Radiation Oncology experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of budget, business planning and health care finance

  • Able to interact with a wide variety of individuals and handle several complex situations simultaneously

  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize critical thinking and apply sound clinical judgment and assessment skills for decision making

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Licensure & Certification Requirements:

  • Must have an active ARRT certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists OR active Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist(CNMT) license through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR active Georgia state Nurse License
