MAIN FUNCTIONS:

• Assisting in the development of communications strategies and plans for specific NJ TRANSIT initiatives and/or announcements.
• Ensuring organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
• Planning, editing and writing clear and compelling content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly newsletters, TV screens or regular email bulletins. You may also be required to work on the layout of content for any of these channels.
• Ensuring internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization.
• Ensuring internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
• Responding to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
• Creating and managing editorial calendar for the newsletter.
• Creating and managing departmental content calendar.
• Developing and managing timelines.
• Developing and disseminating employee surveys. Collecting and assessing the results.
• Assisting in the redevelopment of the agency’s intranet and playing a key role in its relaunch and ongoing content management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor of Arts in English, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing strongly preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years in Corporate, Internal or External Communications, Public Relations, or similar role.
• Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Editing and proofreading skills.
• Well-organized and able to manage priorities and workload independently.
• Experienced in working in a large matrixed organization.
• Experienced in managing personal projects and interacting with senior management.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of digital applications.
• Understands the role internal communications plays in the overall success of an organization.
• Experienced in creating timelines and managing execution of multiple projects at once.
• Experienced in developing strategic communication plans and programs.
