We are looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team. The Accountant will give support to our business by managing the accounting and financial operations. Responsibilities will include financial accounting, preparation, reporting, analysis, budgeting, project management.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cost accounting and other related duties
• Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
• Maintain the general ledger
• Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile account, and close monthly books
• Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, address inquiries from banks
• Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts
• Verifies and completes payment of invoices
• Provide outside auditors with assistance, and gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
• File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies across several states of operation
• Maintain knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Proven work or experience in accounting
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with general ledger functions
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Keen problem-solving and time management skills
• Accounting Organizational Skills
• Proven ability to learn new technology and systems
• High level of ethical behavior

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks
• Proficient in Excel

This job is hybrid and will require some on-site work in our office in downtown New Haven.
