JOB TITLE

Restaurant Captain

REPORTS TO: General Manager

SALARY: $26-$30/hour, depending on experience, eligible for performance bonus

HOURS PER WEEK: Full Time (Approx. 32-40hrs/wk)

DAYS REQUIRED: Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays

The Bittersweet Restaurant team is committed to making our guests’ stay the most memorable it can be. Whether it’s pouring a hot cup of coffee at breakfast, or providing exceptional service at an anniversary dinner, our Front of House team is always on the guests’ side. Our servers learn the ropes of day to day operations as well as executing special events from corporate retreats to weddings. The Restaurant Captain will lead by example and further develop the team’s skills and commitment to hospitality.

What You’ll Do:

  • At Foster Supply Hospitality we are a Team. The first and largest expectation and duty is that of being a productive, positive and willing member of a dynamic team.
  • Serving tables and providing a high level of customer service for an overall excellent guest experience
  • Fostering a close working relationship with the BOH and Guest Services teams and appropriately collecting and sharing information about restaurant guests to ensure a smooth guest experience
  • Learning and utilizing Upserve POS and accountability that everyone’s checks are closed at the end of the shift
  • Working with the General Manager and Chef de Cuisine to ensure that all menus and other printed materials used by the FOH team are up to date and accurate and communicating changes to teams as necessary
  • Collecting payments and managing the cash drawer, including reconciling the cash drawer at the end of the shift
  • Tracking inventory of serving utensils, coffee and other breakfast necessities, cleaning products, and other items utilized by the FOH team and communicate to the relevant purchaser when items need to be restocked
  • Training and coaching new and prospective team members
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the restaurant
  • Taking ownership of weddings, corporate retreats, and other events by reviewing the associate BEO, preparing all relevant resources ahead of an event, and acting as service captain on the day of the event
  • Ensuring compliance with all company safety protocols

Where You’ll Work:

7491 State Rte 55, Neversink, NY 12765

Work will be performed usually indoors, with regular travel between buildings year-round. Have a keen understanding of all guest spaces within the property, including all rooms, grounds, common spaces.

Physical Requirements:

This position can be physically demanding – standing, stooping, crouching, traveling between buildings outdoors, and performing repetitive tasks for a long period of time. Walking up and down stairs may be required. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
