Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and machinery within the manufacturing facility. It is essential that this position maintains the efficiency of all machinery and equipment in a continuous improvement conscious environment while creating and maintaining a safe working environment. This position will be responsible for daily inspections of assigned areas for proper functioning and performing preventative maintenance duties per the standard operating procedures and manufacturer’s specifications. When SOP’s do not exist, the technician will be expected to research and aid in writing SOP’s for the equipment. When equipment malfunctions the issue impacting the machine(s) must be properly diagnosed and repaired or the technician must make adjustments to ensure proper operation. This position will perform highly diversified duties to maintain the facilities and production equipment while adhering to environmental health and safety requirements and completing all compliance and quality documentation within scope.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responds to and performs highly diverse maintenance and repairs to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Completes preventative maintenance according to standard procedures, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, engineering specifics on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Provides emergency and unscheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment and the facility’s equipment and components.
  • Increases site productivity by identifying and fulfilling maintenance needs, knowledge-gaps, and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Removes defective material and parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, an hand and power tools.
  • Uses mechanical skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic for troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts and adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by inspecting used parts and using rulers, calipers, micrometers, levels, hand tools, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • Complies with procedures, rules, and regulations by maintaining compliance and standard work documentation and practicing safe working environment according health, safety, and environmental agency standards.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance and follows company policies as explained by management.
  • Must operate safely and demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • · Maintains and conserves equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level and using existing equipment and supplies to accomplish job results; anticipating needs for equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Partners with various personnel to gather feedback, identify larger organization-wide projects or initiatives leading to improved processes.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule
  • Proficient knowledge of OSHA safety practices in addition to being a LOTO expert.
  • Possesses good time management skills and understands how to prioritize tasks
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to hear speech and/or alarms through noise on the production floor
  • Standing, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands and fingers to manipulate instrument or equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects and tools, whilst wearing correct PPE for the task at hand.
  • Ability to climb at heights as high as 100 feet and work in a safe manner on outdoor structures while using protective equipment.
  • Movement from one work location to another
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Safely lifting objects of 50 lbs.(or more)
  • Temperature within manufacturing plant may vary between 60- 90 degrees, and can occasionally exceed 100 degrees
  • Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment
  • Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of and a practical application for Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Will need to be in close proximity to moving parts and show directed safe work habits, including but not limited to PPE, communication, paperwork, and other Safe Operations as defined by the manufacturer of the equipment and/or are in conjunction with known “best practices”.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing/production environment (Maintenance Tech I)
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing/production environment (Maintenance Tech II)
  • Strong industrial skills with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and fabrication; mechanical system experience (eg. gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems )
  • Strong Electrical and mechanical aptitude required

The compensation advertised within this posting is a starting salary for the role. This position offers a competitive salary which will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
