Butterfields Candy is Hiring a Production Assistant Near Nashville, NC

Our company is looking for a self-motivated Lead Confectioner/Candy Maker with solid understanding of safe food handling procedures that can flawlessly execute the candy making and candy packaging processes and support Management with raw material and packaging supply planning and production scheduling activities:

Position responsibilities:

  • Setup machinery and equipment for shift start.
  • Run candy production batches (measure, blend and cook raw ingredients to get desired flavor, color and texture, run through batch roller and cutter, inspected final products for consistent size and standard taste, sugar dust candies and store in bulk containers.
  • THIS REQUIRES HEAVY LIFTING AND HANDLING OF EXTREMELY HOT CANDY! ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE USED TO HEAVY WEIGHT LIFTING AND LABOR INTENSIVE WORK
  • Alternating with candy production batches, run candy packaging batches for varied packaging sizes and flavors per production schedule.
  • Document and record raw material lot numbers and finished product lot numbers, complete production log information for each batch.
  • Document, inspect and verify raw material inventories and packaging supplies against planned production schedule. Request timely material and supply orders as needed.
  • Monitor and inspects candy production equipment, packaging equipment and ingredient supply systems (sugar and syrup) for purity and integrity. Perform and/or work with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance
  • Comply with Company Quality, HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards.
  • Comply with Company Production policies. Strictly adhere to formulas and procedures.
  • Maintain production areas to be clean and free of waste accumulation perform general equipment and area cleaning and assist in maintenance of area and machines.

Position requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, basic mathematical skills
  • Experience in food production environment, previous candy making experience preferred but not necessary
  • Food Safety Certification or equivalent
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
  • Stand on concrete floor for shift duration, perform continues physical work, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Strong listening skills and ability to follow direction
