Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Database Developer who designs, programs, manages, and maintains the high complexity data environment. Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of database systems. Evaluate and optimize database configuration and access to resolve database performance and capacity issues and assist in database recovery and back-up. Contributes to complex aspects of mission critical business projects, with work independent and collaborative in nature.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Database Development, Management and Administration

• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for database operations.

• Create standard procedures and practices relating to databases and database management, while developing solutions for addressing gaps and identifying automation opportunities in the process. • Collaborate, coordinate, and cohesively work with Business Intelligence teams to support enterprise applications and deliverables.

• Facilitate server-side database development and performance tuning when needed, including index and DB I/O performance tuning and Stored Procedures.

• Design and implement databases in accordance with companies informational and product needs.

• Develop database objects, including tables, views, functions, and stored procedures to support business processes.

• Design, review, analyze, and provide feedback on data models, ETL, and application processes designed to meet the business use cases and workflows.

• Administer Data Warehouse best practices and Star Schema.

• Manage all Warehouse and Business Intelligence tool ETL processes.

• Lead query optimization, tuning, analysis and troubleshooting interaction between databases, operating systems, and applications regarding performance and resources usage.

• Create, manage, and modify database tables, indexes, and data constraints.

• Analyze and predict opportunities for database and database management enhancements through trend analysis, while resolving system, storage, and application issues.

• Monitor database/application growth and server resources to ensure optimum performance and availability of BI platform resources including redesigning, re-indexing, and re-writing code to ensure systems perform at their best.

• Create data modeling, relational modeling and multidimensional modeling and physical database design including OLAP Environment Administration, including SSIS/SSRS/SSAS.

• Manage security across all database environments.

• Manage user accounts and security through user-level roles. which allows users to access their own data, and the data owned by their subordinates, without compromising on applicable security protocol.

• Manage daily ETL Jobs and remediate issues.

• Support ARCU, EDS upgrades in partnership with vendor.

Planning

• Research new technologies, draft recommendations, technology plans and requirements for business needs.

• Develop medium and long-term roadmaps for database infrastructure of organization and develop methods to execute and track progress against goals and objectives.

• Formulate and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards.

IT Operations

• Troubleshoot minor to major problems on an as-needed basis, often requiring time sensitive response and proactive communication.

• Assist in creating and sending daily critical alerts using OS event logs and SQL server logs for specific error levels or error messages that impact SQL Servers to be notified.

IT Leadership

• Provide mentorship to the programming and business intelligence teams.

• Prepare and present recommendations and updates on projects, support, and future needs planning.

• Research new technologies relating to core business functions and operations.

• Recommend vendors based on research and current documentation.

• Locate and choose new learning opportunities to enhance and further knowledge of Department practices.

Non-Essential Functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge in working with SQL Server: Strong Transact-SQL, performance tuning, Database capacity planning, SQL Clustering, and Users and Role creation and monitoring.

• Experience with database design for performance optimization, application development, and data warehousing.

• Advanced knowledge and experience with multi-dimensional systems.

• Experience in working with big data.

• Experience in administrative and automation scripts, and stored procedures using SQL, TSQL, Python, C#, and / or PowerShell.

• Experience in large landscape/environments with multiple databases.

• Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security.

• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to operate in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

• Ability to effectively utilize project, change and incident management skills and documentation.

• Excellent communication skills, with a practiced ability to act independently and confidentially with little or no supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

• Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.

Education/Experience A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar, with a minimum of six years related experience.
