University Medical Clinic is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Nampa, ID

The University Medical Clinic at Northwest Nazarene University is hiring a part-time medical assistant to work 10 hour shifts on Mondays and Tuesdays. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being challenged, excels at multitasking, is organized and someone who is very adaptable and focused on delivering a positive patient experience. This role is designed to be for an individual who has experience working in a medical practice and is willing to be cross trained for administrative/clinical duties. You will support the providers, work collaboratively with staff, and effectively communicate with patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

NNU is a Christian University of the liberal arts, professional programs, and graduate studies. The University is grounded in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition and is in partnership with the Church of the Nazarene, which emphasizes the biblical doctrines of perfect love and Christian holiness. Please note, if offered the role, you will be required to sign a letter of faith.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with providers, patients, patient families, visitors and co-workers in a professional and confident manner
  • Provides high quality care to all patients while assessing and identifying patients’ needs
  • Implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment
  • Complete all nursing documentation: assessments, orders, progress notes, flowsheets, consents, and any assigned tasks and ensures documentation accurately reflects the services provided
  • Administer medications and injections, draws blood, removes sutures and staples, and completes necessary forms according to clinic policies and procedures to ensure services are completed according to coding and billing guidelines.
  • Obtain patients vital signs
  • Provide ongoing patient education under the direction of the provider
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
  • Properly triage patients according to presented signs and symptoms (in person or via telephone) to assist the provider in ongoing care
  • Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Maintain clinical inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and placing orders
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms and medical instruments
  • Initiate emergency measures when necessary
  • Light cleaning duties
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of nursing theory
  • Skill in collecting data by interview, observation, auscultation and palpation
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Current Idaho MA License (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification
  • Two years’ experience in a clinic setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • EHR experience preferred
