NORWELL PUBLIC SCHOOLS NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTSANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYPOSITION: Food Service Worker
GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for the preparation and service of meals for students and adults following a monthly menu under the direction of the cafeteria manager. Tasks may include but not be limited to food preparation, meal service, manual and automatic dishwashing, cashiering, and overall sanitation of the kitchen.
REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager QUALIFICATIONS:
Indirect report to: Director of Food Services
  • Knowledge of quantity food preparation skills and large-scale equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation procedures and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public.
  • Ability to operate a cash register accurately calculating daily deposits and maintaining required accounting forms.
  • Ability to handle, lift, and carry substances weighing 40 or more pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily food preparation as determined by menu, utilizing recipes, and production sheets.
  • Set up for meal service as directed by cafeteria manager. May include restocking of food items, paper goods, filling condiments, salad bar, etc.
  • Serve meals as efficiently as possible, maintaining adequate portion controls.
  • Perform cashiering duties as required, preparing receipts for daily deposit.
  • Ensures proper serving temperature and palatability of food prior to serving.
  • Performs dishwashing duties as required, ensuring that acceptable temperature levels are maintained.
  • Participates in overall cleaning of kitchen cafeteria and related areas as directed by cafeteria manager.
  • Notifies manager for any supplies needed.
  • Follows proper food handling techniques for storage, preparation and service.
  • Set up special functions as directed by cafeteria manager.
  • Performs any and all tasks as assigned by cafeteria manager and/or food service director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Number of work days and hours may vary based on need of the kitchen.
