This is a full-time, salary position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but may vary depending on workload, meeting times, and deadlines.

Summary / Objective 

The Financial Manager oversees Every Woman’s Place’s (EWP) financial functions and works closely with administrative and program staff to ensure consistency in financial controls. 

Essential Functions

  • Manage finances to support EWP’s short-and long-term goals and provide fiscal direction. 
  • Provides support to human resources and administrative staff. 
  • Works with program staff to ensure consistency in financial functions.

Financial Management 

  • Provide financial oversight for the organization and be responsible for the entire range of financial management, from daily operations to high-level management. Must adhere to GAAP standards. 
  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Director to oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting processes and prepare the annual operating budget. 
  • Work with staff and board to develop/implement program and organizational budget. Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet, and cash flow financial statements. 
  • Monitor, interpret and present financial results of operations and programs each month. Serve as financial liaison with the board, providing financial reports. 
  • Coordinate the annual audit and IRS 990 filing with an independent accounting firm. 
  • Final approval in bi-weekly payroll process. 
  • Oversee monthly credit card transactions are completed timely with all necessary back up to charges. 
  • Create and maintain excellent financial controls, policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure effective functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, bookkeeping, budgeting and accounting, and manage A/R and A/P 
  • Able to enter monthly Journal Entries and create grant receivables. General knowledge of year end entries to prepare for annual audit. Be able to enter closing entries, accruals, and reversals.
  • Must complete monthly financial reports for government grants and track reporting of government grant project/program budgets and expenditures. Currently, 17 grants require monitoring and reporting including local, state, and federal grants. 
  • Must be able to complete final expenditure reports for all state and federal grants that require them.
  • Create allocation plans annually that adhere to grant funding, ensuring maximum grant usage. 
  • Maintain EWP’s Capital Asset reports, coordinating with auditing firm. 
  • Assist with and/or participate in all EWP major projects and activities as assigned and perform additional duties as assigned by supervising Executive Director. 
  • Adheres to all guidelines contained in Employee Handbook and acts as an example to staff of how to operate. 
  • Help coordinate financial information for upcoming Bond proposal and provide accurate data.

Experience & Educational Requirements 

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Master’s is preferred.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals, including individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment 

This position works in close proximity with people in other departments. This position typically works in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, and light foot traffic). Ability to work in a confined area. Office presence is preferred, however, the opportunity for some remote work is available.

Travel 

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected 

Physical Demands of the Job 

Sedentary work. No more than 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or carrying small items. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
