Stanley Consultants is Hiring a Transportation Engineer Near Muscatine, IA

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Transportation Engineer for our Iowa market. This position is responsible for varied transportation and site engineering work on design and study projects. This position will provide engineering expertise for state, county and local roadway and site development projects. Roadway projects range from local facilities to arterial and highway projects. Tasks include all aspects of roadway design including roadways, intersections, drainage, utilities research and coordination, right-of-way coordination and permits, quantity take-offs and cost estimates, signing and pavement marking plans, traffic control, report writing, and preparation of contract plans. The candidate must be able to work well and effectively in a team environment. The ideal candidate is energetic, is enthusiastic, has a can-do attitude and is hungry for knowledge. This position also offers opportunities to participate in professional organizations.
Essential Duties include:
  • Roadway geometric design and modeling
  • Preparation of detailed construction plans and contract documents
  • Prepares and checks design computations, design plans, and quantity estimates
  • Use of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Coordination with regulatory agencies, utility companies and subconsultants to obtain information, guidance, and requirements
  • Coordinate the design of projects with a team of engineers and designers
  • Manage project budgets and schedules
  • Project management experience and skills are advantageous to the candidate
  • Attend client meetings
  • Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Must possess at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Requires an Iowa Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Must be proficient with Microstation and Geopak Civil Engineering Suite, including Open Roads Technology. Open Roads Designer experience is a plus
  • Must be proficient in horizontal and vertical roadway geometrics and have experience in developing and manipulating roadway corridor models
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be proficient in using Microstation to prepare design documents. Assists designers/technicians in creating contract drawings
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills
  • Knowledge and experience with the IowaDOT including the Road Design Manual is a plus
Base Compensation: $79,500 - $104,000
