This position provides services to children ages 0-3 with developmental needs and their families in-home and/or community settings throughout Union County. This role requires a compassionate healer who is passionate about their patients and committed to helping them recover their independence and mobility. Someone with experience working with a wide range of patient injuries and age groups, who is always ready to learn new techniques to further patient care. The right candidate is a patient skilled

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and assesses patients, of all age groups, with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiac and/or respiratory diseases and/or disabilities to determine their level of function. The OT develops and performs therapeutic treatment programs that reflect age-appropriate activities and documents findings.
 
This includes:

• Selecting and administering objective tests and measurements such as manual muscle testing, activities of daily living, gross and fine motor coordinator and dexterity during the initial assessment
• Developing proper therapeutic treatment plan of care and anticipated outcome for each patient in accordance with a written and signed Physician's order or prescription
• Establishes functional, measurable and realistic short and long-term goals with timeframes
• Modifying treatment plan and goals based on patient response and/or ineffectiveness as noted in the medical record.
• Demonstrating effective teaching skills with patients/family members/caregivers and maintains safety and care of the patient during treatment sessions
• Assisting in discharge planning of patients along with other members of the healthcare team
• Documenting initial assessments, reassessments and progress notes for each patient in accordance with established department policy and procedures.

Requirements:

• Requires a Masters degree, graduate of an entry-level masters program in Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
• Requires a current New Jersey State license and registration by the AOTA or eligibility
• BLS Certification required
• Previous experience preferred
