Job Overview
Collects and processes specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs clerical duties including data entry, ordering tests, diagnosis entry, retrieval and distribution of results. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Demonstrates competence in care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintains the Mission and Values of the Crossroads Community Hospital. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or high school equivalency with training in phlebotomy. Phlebotomy program certification preferred.
Phlebotomy experience preferred. Laboratory Information/Data Entry experience preferred but not required. Medical Terminology and diagnosis coding experience preferred but not required.
Certificate as PBT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred. Must possess current card from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers (required within one month of employment). Will obtain and maintain drug screen collection and breath alcohol certification.
