City of Mt. Pleasant is Hiring a Social Worker Near Mount Pleasant, MI
The City of Mt. Pleasant is seeking two dedicated, compassionate, and professional social workers to join our staff. This position serves as a crucial link enhancing community relations, supporting individuals in crisis, and contributing to overall public safety. As a social worker functioning in tandem with the City of Mt. Pleasant Police Department, you will work collaboratively with law enforcement personnel to address the complex social issues impacting our community.
This part-time (not to exceed 25 hours per week) position is Monday through Friday working a mutually agreed upon flexible schedule. Weekend, night, and holiday work is possible based on community and departmental need.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in social work, and a valid State of Michigan LBSW license. A Master’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of relevant community programs, resources, and social services is required and familiarity with criminal justice system and law enforcement procedures is preferred. Expertise in effective interventions, de-escalation, and introduction of appropriate solutions is required. Skilled in Microsoft Office suite, production of quality business communication, and case documentation. A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
The starting hourly wage is $21.95 to $27.36, depending on qualifications.
The City of Mt. Pleasant offers a competitive fringe benefit package for this part-time position including a Municipal Employees Retirement System (MERS) defined contribution plan with a 10% employer contribution, MERS healthcare saving program, flexible spending accounts, paid leave time, educational support, and wellness benefits.
Selected applicants will undergo qualification testing. Testing is tentatively scheduled for April 10, 2024. Not all applicants tested will receive an interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for April 23 and 24, 2024. Applicants selected for testing will be contacted via email.
