We are looking to hire a Maintenance Planner based in Mount Crawford, VA! The Maintenance Planner is an individual contributor with very good communication skills as well as strong technical knowledge in maintenance crafts, equipment design and function, manufacturing requirements, and maintenance processes.

Planners contribute to the PM purpose of achieving optimal equipment and process conditions in a manner that is efficient and cost effective.

  • Responsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning 5%
  • Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements. 17%
  • Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work 1%
  • Makes safety procedures, including lock-out / tag-out procedures available to employees. Ensures that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan. 1%
  • Estimates required hours on work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to perform the task. 1%
  • Plans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce 18%
  • Determines and includes QA / QC requirements on jobs. 1%
  • Procures equipment and specialized tools required to perform work 3%
  • Gathers necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings 3%
  • Writes clear and concise work procedures 3%
  • Determines and arranges for parts required to perform the work 3%
  • Plans parts for all projects to increase "wrench time" and maximize efficiency. 3%
  • Compiles information into a job package that is ready for skilled trades - clearly communicates with skilled trades regarding critical steps in the process 15%
  • Prints and delivers work orders to the skilled trades in conjunction with the weekly work schedule.1%
  • Upon completion of jobs, communicates with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficient 3%
  • Coordinates priority setting with the management team - places specific emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of priorities 5%
  • Keeps bills of materials current. 3%
  • Is able to accurately measure the maintenance backlog in its various forms and continually maintains not less than 4 weeks worth of ready backlog at all times. 3%
  • Responsible for equipment and repair parts data entry and management. 1%
  • Ensures all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished. 1%
  • Participates with all Department personnel on improvement projects, particularly when they are related to the proactive maintenance plan (PdM and PM) 3%
  • Compiles and delivers reports from CMMS (MP2) regarding the work execution management process. 3%
  • Own respective QMS standard and execute all processes, including all documentation specification requirements.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in the maintenance field; preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with current MP2 / CMMS desirable but not required
  • Strong mechanical / electrical aptitude
  • Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • 3-5 year experience with MP2, CMMS work order systems
  • Management of all work order, preventative maintenance procedures
  • Coordinates with maintenance and operations team on the availability of part procurement and access to the equipment.
  • Works with vendors to insure price and availability for maintenance operations
  • Monitors work order progress and aligns manpower to accomplish task at hand in a timely manner.
  • Planner in addition, works with Maintenance Leads to assure that adequate work has been assigned to shift personnel as per prioritized work orders.
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to multitask
  • Self-driven, results oriented, able to work independently
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills
