Job Summary

The Store Manager position at Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters is responsible for leading a group of dedicated Baristas who are focused on making the customer happy with a beverage that is superior in taste, quality and value. The Store Manager is also responsible for managing daily operations and financial results. A successful Store Manager will spend most of their time on the floor to connect with staff, customers, and coach in the moment and identify ways to drive results.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Passionately share Thomas Hammer offerings and bring a positive attitude and high energy to daily interactions
  • Maintain Thomas Hammer culture by keeping an entrepreneurial spirit and ensuring the store environment remains productive, supportive, and growth orientated
  • Employee lifecycle: recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, reviews, corrective action, terminations, etc.
  • Ensure proper cost of goods
  • Maintain cost of labor at or near 26% (may vary based on location)
  • Develop and maintain a productive loss prevention strategy
  • Store administrative duties: daily banking, reporting, ordering, etc.
  • Increase new customer traffic by staying involved in the community and actively sharing the THCR story and offerings
  • Customer service & complaint resolution
  • Cashiering
  • Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, non-coffee and blended beverages to company standard
  • Quality Control (testing coffee product to endure standards are met)
  • Describing menu items and suggesting products to customers
  • Packaging baked goods for retail sale
  • Sharing product knowledge with staff and customers to encourage sales
  • Cleaning
  • Stocking
  • Duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Food and Beverage Worker’s Permit for WA State employees (within 7 days of hire)
  • Nonsmoker (WA State only)
  • ·Display positive, high energy
  • Coffee experience highly desired
  • 3 years of customer service
  • 1 year of management/supervisory experience
  • Clear thinking
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Willingness to do the right thing

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The employee often works inside lobby and/or drive thru. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud. Temperature can fluctuate from warm to cool.

Some minor travel may be required to other regional locations to assist with staffing needs or to accommodate group meetings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear to exchange information.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb and balance; bend at the waist, stoop, kneel, and crouch; taste and smell; and perform work which involves occasionally lifting, pushing and or pulling of objects which may approximate 50 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
