The Nuts and Bolts
- Define the product strategy and roadmap across multiple product segments
- Manage the Long-Range Plan (All-New, Mid-Cycle Actions, and Features)
- Conduct market, product, feature, and pricing research to inform decisions
- Lead the innovation and ideation process, own the VOC and Concept Approval gates
- Deliver Market Requirement Documents (MRD) and Product Requirement Documents (PRD) with prioritized features and corresponding customer and market-based justification
- Prepare key materials for governance review and approval
- Working with engineering, ensure that all product objectives are delivered to the approved targets during the development phase
- Identify partnerships and licensing opportunities to deliver new features and products
- Serve as the in-house expert with knowledge of the competitors, industry, and customers
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Manager
- 3 years of related professional experience within the transportation industry
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex issues, develop a compelling point of view, and persuasively make the case for change, leading to action
- Prior success defining and launching innovative and customer centric products
- Passionate advocate for the voice of the customer, experience with Human Centered Design concepts and Design Thinking
- Demonstrated experience managing complex product road maps and product planning
- Demonstrated experience managing gated product delivering processes
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams with excellent teamwork skills
- Advanced working knowledge of data systems (IHS, Wards, FTR, etc.)
- Expert level skills in MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel) and data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of eight hours per day is required. At times, this job operates in a manufacturing plant environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
