WORK WEEK SCHEDULE 

Monday-Friday

WORK HOURS 

8 hour day

POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Check the accuracy of all payrolls from schools
  • Make time adjustments as needed
  • Enter monthly amounts for short-term disability
  • Enter information for retirement/termination payouts
  • Process monthly payrolls
  • Finalize payroll groups
  • Balance and remit payments for dental/vision/Colonial/garnishments/State Employees Credit Union and other deductions
  • Employment Security Commission reports
  • Send any paper checks to schools
  • Help school bookkeepers as needed
  • Answer questions from employees as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

? Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, and Excel

? Effective time management skills, self-motivated;

? Ability to perform complex arithmetical computations accurately and with reasonable speed; ? Ability to understand, interpret, and apply specific procedures, rules, and regulations governing the processes of fiscal documents; 

? Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail. ? Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; 

? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system employees and vendors. 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE 

? Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related area preferred; 

? Five years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field; 

? Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS 

? Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to thirty pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Must be able to work in an office environment and come into direct contact with Administration school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
