Technical Project Manager

NAVSYS Corporation – Colorado Springs, CO

Job Summary

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) will coordinate DoD and commercial product development and contract management activities in a fast-paced, highly-technical R&D environment. The TPM will also support commercialization of NAVSYS’ advanced PNT products and will work closely with strategic partners, customers, engineers, company management, vendors, and suppliers in order to communicate program-related direction and decisions. The TPB will also perform day-to-day project management on contracts to assure that milestones and deliverables are met on time and on budget.

The PM is responsible for the following:

· Coordinates the delivery of products and services.

· Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, process improvement initiatives, and planning the use of materials and staff.

· Provides oversight for the multiple project teams who complete day-to-day tasks for the delivery of R&D projects, and commercial products. Manages project teams by setting priorities and implementation parameters and defining roles and responsibilities.

· Assimilates knowledge and understanding of a broad range of current and new technology issues/trends surrounding evolving system requirements, incorporating this information into proposals and bids that further our customer acquisition strategy and market development plans.

· Has interaction with existing and potential new customers, engineering and business development team members, new and prospective vendors, and suppliers in order to successfully win and deliver programs.

· Responsible for project tracking and analysis. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.

· Prepares customer briefings, activity and status reports as required for assigned programs.

· Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects.

· Develops and maintains project plans and projections, coordinates the effective use of resources, manages deliverables, schedules, and costs.

· Coordinates efforts of a diverse set of engineers on programs with hardware, firmware, software and modeling/simulation research expertise for the design, development, and maintenance of positioning, navigation, and timing systems. Orchestrates activities to develop new systems and enhance/extend existing systems to support customer needs.

· Works with partners to identify, plan, and execute initiatives for development and marketing of new products for commercial and DoD applications.

· Oversees the product development lifecycle including requirements generation, design, implementation, integration, and testing, both in our facilities as wee as in the field, locally, and at customer operational testing sites.

· Coordinates proposal development to include developing resource estimates, statements of work, milestone identification, deliverables, scheduling, and costing.

· Leads and participates in product-related process improvement initiatives.

· Supervises the engineering team to assure on-schedule and on-budget project execution.

This position requires a motivated self-starter and team-player with the ability to address diverse challenges in a complex environment – amongst these challenges are inter-program technology dependencies and mid-program technology changes. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. An ability to operate fluidly and efficiently and to motivate and monitor technical staff assigned in a matrix organization will contribute to the incumbent’s success.

Job Requirements

The following are requirements for consideration:

· U.S. citizenship required and an active secret clearance is a plus. At a minimum, must be security clearance eligible. Individuals with an active security clearance are preferred. US Citizenship is required. Candidates without active security clearance will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

· Four years project management experience with U.S. Government, DoD, and commercial contract and sub-contract program management including managing customer relationships, schedule, and budget management.

· BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or six years relevant technical experience

· Experience supervising technical/engineering teams

· Experience with generating technical and cost proposals.

· Experience with the use of MS Project and Excel for project planning and execution and resource forecasting.

The following knowledge, skills, and experience are highly desirable:

  • Familiarity with Unanet
  • Familiarity with GPS and navigation systems in a DoD environment
  • Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web services and Data Modeling

Salary and Benefits

NAVSYS offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental and vision plans, life and STD/LTD disability insurance, a 401K retirement plan, vacation and holiday leave, and an educational assistance program.

Salary: $60,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year dependent on experience, skill level, and extent to which the candidate meets desired requirements

Work Remotely: Hybrid – in Office 3-4 days a week
