US Bureau of Naval Personnel is Hiring a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC) Near Monterey, CA

Duties

  • You will manage the network infrastructure, installing and configuring network electronics and applications as required.
  • You will maintain system software, develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), troubleshoot hardware and software, and perform other functions required to ensure the continuous operation of enterprise data network.
  • You will monitor performance of assigned systems, recommend hardware and software upgrades as required, and develop budget data for proposed upgrades.
  • You will follow established procedures to monitor system activities for potential security events.
  • You will ensure the integrity and availability of computer and mobile computing systems by patching and updating network connected systems as directed.
  • You will lead the development of scopes of work, supervise the execution of contracts, and work with the contracting office to ensure compliance with applicable laws in the execution of contracts in areas of professional subject matter expertise.
  • You will serve as a Classified Computing Manager in the Information Technology and Communication Services (ITACS) Department of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 System Administrator level II within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performs upgrades to hardware and software to improve network services; 2) Troubleshoots network problems to maintain network availability; 3) Assists with installing anti-virus and security patches in accordance with cybersecurity protocols; and 4) Leads the development of the scopes of work in support of contract execution of information technology system. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

Physical Demands:

Work Environment:
The work is performed in settings of regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, such as high noise levels, high temperatures in confined spaces, or adverse weather conditions. Employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. Work involves moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when working in areas with hazardous materials such as toxic gases, explosives, infectious biological diseases, and others that pose a moderate risk of exposure. Work also involves moderate risk and discomfort when working outdoors without shelter.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
