Summary The purchasing agent will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, testing, and supplies, for the organization. Job Responsibilities Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials and products. Checking material availability in current stock. Prepares purchase requisitions and purchase orders by verifying specifications and price. Manages purchases by forwarding orders to suppliers and monitoring and expediting orders. Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers. Authorizes payment for purchases by reconciling received documentation. Manages supplier NCRs. Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents. Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents. Promote personal accountability for Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) by adhering to the principles and guidelines outlined in HMH's HSSE governing policy. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience). Minimum 2 years of relevant professional level experience; manufacturing experience highly preferred. Skills and Abilities: Great organizational skills. Excellent negotiator.
