The Hiller Companies, LLC has an immediate opening for Systems Admin II.

This position will ideally be located on site in Mobile, AL, but we will consider remote working arrangements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud-based solutions according to best practices.
  • Manage and monitor Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking components.
  • Implement and manage Azure Active Directory for user authentication and access control.
  • Implement automation for provisioning, configuration, and deployment using tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, PowerShell, or Azure CLI.
  • Automate routine tasks and workflows using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages.
  • Ensure security and compliance of Azure resources by implementing security policies, access controls, and encryption.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure services, performance, and connectivity.
  • Implement and maintain Azure backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud architecture for performance, cost, and scalability.
  • Stay current with Azure technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements and enhancements.
  • Document technical designs, procedures, and configurations.
  • Responsible for designing, setting up, and managing information networks and servers.
  • Perform regular system upgrades to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex server related issues escalated from junior admins.
  • Monitor network and server performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.
  • Develop and maintain server architecture and configuration procedures.
  • Conduct regular security checks and apply protective measures to ensure network integrity.
  • Implement and oversee disaster recovery and backup procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct training to junior admins and other IT personnel to promote efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.

Qualifications


Education, Licensure & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years experience in a System Administrator role.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud System Administrator or similar role, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience preferred with other cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Experience preferred with server hardware and virtualization.
  • Experience preferred managing SharePoint and Teams online.

Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, etc.
  • Familiarity with Azure management tools such as Azure Portal, Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure Resource Manager.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or other languages.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, or similar.
  • Proven experience as a Server Administrator, preferably at a mid to senior level.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware and network technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, server hardware, and firewalls.
  • Prefer candidates with understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN, and familiarity with ITIL framework and IT service management processes.
  • Must demonstrate with disaster recovery, backup solutions, and security principles.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
