Description

The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for implementing programs that engage alumni and provide benefits to Pfeiffer University alumni and students. The Director of Alumni Engagement is charged with creating and maintaining opportunities for alumni participation that advance the goals of the Office of Institutional Advancement; partnering with Advancement Division colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving; and serving as a liaison between the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the academic and administrative leadership. The Director reports to Vice President of Institutional Advancement and works closely with alumni to cultivate interest and support for University programs and increase alumni giving. The Director is responsible for planning and organizing Alumni events and gatherings, and engaging and sustaining Alumni efforts to further the mission of Pfeiffer University.

Full-Time12 months

  • Work closely with the Alumni Association Board of Directors to ensure strong and productive relationships between its members and the academic and administrative leadership of the University.
  • Act as chief liaison between the alumni and the University.
  • Develop and promote alumni programming that supports the University’s strategic plan in collaboration with colleagues in the Office of Advancement and throughout the University.
  • Establish and build personal relationships with a wide range of alumni and friends, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, emails, approved alumni web pages, and print publications.
  • Provide programming to engage new graduates and young alumni in the life of the University (i.e. Senior Day, Commencement activities, etc.).
  • Support the fundraising efforts of the University in collaboration with the advancement division.
  • Lead, plan and execute quality events and functions, including set-up and break down as required, following campus policies and procedures set in place by the Office of Advancement, Office of the President and Director of Facilities. Events include Homecoming, Alumni Day, senior events, area alumni events, etc.
  • Develop and promote general fund raising activities geared toward alumni, including the execution of reunion year giving campaigns, Pfeiffer Day, etc.
  • Develop and execute plans to enhance relationships with 50 prospective and current donors in a personal portfolio to increase loyalty and overall giving. In collaboration with the Office of Advancement team, cultivate and solicit alumni and university friends for financial support of the university. Record all development activities in Raiser's Edge.
  • Possible supervision of work/study employees (p/t) and provision of guidance to alumni volunteers and student interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Typical office environment; frequently lifting and carrying items up to 20 lbs.; frequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses or off-campus to meet with vendors and attend events; weekend and evening hours; occasionally work in outdoor conditions

  • Experience in event and volunteer management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities
  • Strong writing, planning, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Extensive experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent database preferred
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
