Minot Public Schools is Hiring a Behavioral Health Coordinator Near Minot, ND

This position is part-time; 2.5 days per week
This position is grant dependent. Applicants should know that if the grant is no longer available, then the position will be ended.
SummaryUnder general supervision, provides coordinated behavioral interventions and supports to schools in meeting the needs of students needing behavioral supports such that they are able to access their instructional program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS __ Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Establishes and implements behavioral interventions and supports, and monitors the effectiveness of these interventions and supports..
  • Assists in implementing behavioral services and supports, and providing appropriate behavioral Observes students in classroom/school setting.
  • Develops collaborative/consultative relationships with school-based administrators, general and special education service providers, and other MPS staff and community agencies.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts professional learning for school-based staff, and other related service providers, including families, as appropriate.
  • Coordinates school-based support, as requested, to include identifying and modeling effective behavioral interventions.
  • Keeps current with research related to effective behavioral health interventions and strategies that support students at risk and students with disabilities who have social/emotional/behavioral needs.
  • Maintains appropriate data regarding number of students serviced, placement of students, needs of students, parent involvement, needs of staff, etc.
  • Monitors the implementation of behavioral health intervention and support programs to assure consistency across schools, articulation among schools, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Works with staff to eliminate student behavior that interferes with student social or educational growth.
  • Assists teachers in improving their ability to effectively implement practices to manage students’ behavior.
  • Keeps current on research and best practices for social, emotional and educational support.
  • Serves as the MPS Homeless Liaison.
  • Maintains accurate records and documents; maintains confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with established regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience GuidelinesDegree in special education, psychology, social work, or related field and five (5) years of experience providing services to students; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge Of
  • Department policies and procedures.
  • Federal, State, and local ordinances, statute, rules, and codes.
  • Record keeping and file maintenance principles and procedures.
  • Various assessment and instruction methods.
Skill In
  • Dealing tactfully and courteously with students, staff, and community members, using patience, understanding, and caring.
  • Following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Planning and managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Maintaining accurate records, filing systems, and documentation.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of student records and personal information.
License And Certification RequirementsA valid North Dakota State Driver’s License may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENTWork is performed in an office environment and potentially where students reside. May require frequent sitting and continuous operation of a personal computer.
