The Amy for America Campaign is seeking a Data Scientist to develop advanced analytics solutions to support and guide the Amy Campaign’s outreach efforts. This person will combine statistical and programming skills, along with domain knowledge to create predictive models and other statistical tools and methodologies.
The Data Scientist will work collaboratively with other members of the analytics team, along with digital, paid media, finance, organizing, and other campaign departments. We are looking for folks with a variety of backgrounds and experiences, and are dedicated to building a team that looks like America.
The Data Scientist is based in our Minneapolis HQ and reports to the Data Science Lead.
ResponsibilitiesCreate predictive models of voter and supporter behavior. Prepare and analyze datasets to extract meaningful campaign insights.Employ supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, along with other statistical methods, to solve complex optimization problems. Contribute to testing and experimentation design, infrastructure, and implementation. Contribute to broader methodological standards across analytics team.Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineers to produce deliverables.
Requirements2-4 years of experience applying data and advanced analytics tools in a commercial, political, or non-profit setting, or equivalent academic experience (such as a postgraduate degree in a quantitative field).Fluency in Python or RFamiliarity with executing all components of predictive modeling, including data collection and cleaning, model building using regression and other machine learning techniques, and model validation. Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, both in writing and verbally.
