In the role of Clinical Research Coordinator I you will be working in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine department.

Purpose

This Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) I position involves working closely with Principal Investigators Dr. Jennifer Knight and/or Dr. Kelly Rentscher and associated team members in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and the MCW Cancer Center. The CRC will perform the day-to-day research and administrative activities of the biobehavioral oncology clinical research program, which investigates stress, inflammatory and aging biology, and health disparities in cancer survivorship populations, and will provide support to the team to facilitate the achievement of the program's goals. The qualified applicant will be organized, motivated, open to learning, flexible, able to function independently, self-directed, and proactive. The following list is representative of the duties and responsibilities of a CRC, but it is not all-inclusive, nor will the CRC necessarily be responsible for all the duties outlined. Duties and responsibilities are subject to modification at the discretion of the PI(s).

Primary Functions

  • Recruit, screen, enroll, obtain consent, administer study assessments (e.g., questionnaires, behavioral tasks) and follow up with study participants.
  • Coordinate research protocols including arranging necessary appointments and procedures, assisting with biological sample collection, processing, and transport, ordering equipment and supplies, and working collaboratively with other departments and institutions. Monitor project budgets.
  • Maintain patient calendars, screening, and enrollment information utilizing the OnCore software tool to assist in patient specific protocol required timelines to ensure compliance with protocol requirements.
  • Identify problems or obstacles in the system/procedures related to implementation of the research protocols and communicate to the study investigators.
  • Prepare and submit IRB documents and reports. Assure compliance with all relevant IRB and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Work with the Principal Investigator to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive databases (e.g., REDCap) and files related to the research.
  • Analyze research data, summarize results, and prepare graphical representation of the research findings.
  • Provide written and editorial assistance in the preparation of grants, manuscripts, and other study-related reports. Conduct literature reviews.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide periodic training and assist with scheduling and supervising research assistants.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update website materials.
  • Attend project meetings, area seminars, and other meetings as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Knowledge of psychology, biology, computers, clerical procedures, customer service standards, collaboration, and records management. Top skills and proficiencies include clear communication, working collaboratively as a team member, rigorous organization, attention to detail, time management, critical thinking, data collection and management, strong writing skills.

Minimum Required Experience: 1 year of research experience

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Experience:

Field: Psychology, Public Health, Pre-Medicine, or other related research-oriented field

Certification: CITI training within 90 days of hire; Laboratory biosafety training after hire
