Garden State Bariatrics is an MBSAQIP accredited bariatric practice with two of New Jersey’s best and most well-respected bariatric surgeons. We are looking for a compassionate, experienced Physician Assistant to join our team.

The PA will partner with the surgeons for office hours and act as first surgical assistant in surgery. The PA will also maintain their own office hours independently. The main focus of the practice is bariatric surgery; supplemental procedures include weight loss drugs and aesthetic procedures.

• Provide direct patient care in both the clinical and surgical setting.
• Perform comprehensive history and physical examination, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• Work as a team with the surgeons to develop a treatment and surgical plan.
• Oversee the clinical experience and coordination of care to ensure the most efficient journey to surgery.
• Write prescription orders, including narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs and pre and postoperative orders, as necessary.
• Assist in surgery. Makes post-op rounds to evaluate patients and writes progress reports.
• Educate patients about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments, injections, procedures and/or medications.
• Record and maintain legible, accurate and confidential patient medical records including initial evaluation, subsequent follow-up, unusual incidents or events, and patient progress to provide complete and up-to-date information for ongoing reference and evaluation.
• Monitor and act on all incoming patient requests including phone calls, messages and any patient care related paperwork or correspondence.
• Ensure professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops and maintaining knowledge of industry standards and practices.
• Maintain patients' confidentiality.
• Perform other duties pertaining to patient care and practice operations as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Successful candidates will be self-directed, demonstrate initiative and professionalism, and exercise expert clinical judgment to function independently in this role.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in similar clinical setting/specialty is preferred.

Experience with AdvancedMD

REQUIRED Licensure:

New Jersey Physician Assistant license

Certified by NCCPA

New Jersey CDS license

Federal DEA certificate

Part-time position - 25-30 hours per week.
