Position: Environmental Scientist I
Fieldwork Responsibilities (50% of the role)
As an Environmental Scientist, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the outdoors and contribute to important environmental projects. With comprehensive training, you’ll conduct soil, groundwater, and air sampling, and perform site inspections. You’ll also oversee contractors and maintain a detailed field book with all project information.
You’ll be involved in field inspections and studies of proposed investigation sites, including topography and geological formations. You’ll collect and interpret field data, and review your findings with a senior scientist. You’ll also supervise technicians, drill crews, or excavation crews during hydrogeological site investigations.
Office Responsibilities (50% of the role)
When you’re not in the field, you’ll be contributing to our team from the office. Your office duties will include report writing, data tabulation, and drafting maps based on your field notes and observations. You’ll also maintain communication with the project manager and prepare administrative reports such as timesheets and expense reports.
Flexibility and Availability
This role requires flexibility as projects can often come up abruptly. You’ll be expected to maintain detailed field notes of site activities and promptly turn in these notes to the project manager at the end of each shift.
Location
Our offices are located in New City, NY 10956, and New Milford CT 06776. You’ll be required to visit these offices as part of your duties.
Evaluation and Benefits
We believe in continuous learning and growth. At three and six months, we’ll evaluate your performance and provide feedback. After six months, you may be eligible for a permanent salaried position and start accruing vacation time. You’ll be entitled to 10 days of vacation time a year, dependent on hours of work.

Please note: This role requires the use of your own vehicle for field work. Mileage incurred related to projects should be recorded and will be reimbursed.
