Dorf Ketal Chemicals - North America is Hiring a Regional Technical Manager Near Midland, TX

JOB TITLE: Regional Technical Manager
DEPARTMENT: Technology
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
SUMMARY: The Regional Technical Manager is responsible for leading and managing the regional technical group by aligning technical resources to business support, growth and innovation. They will direct the regional technical team on such initiatives as developing new products, focusing technical strategies and resources on business continuity and growth, managing lab activities and providing technical training to the regional teams with the overall goal of having solution-oriented products and services to help mitigate well failures and prolong E&P assets.
This position will demonstrate a high level of technical ability and is to be considered a Subject Matter Expert in production chemicals, which includes water, oil and as treatment products and applications in upstream and midstream oilfield processes. Formulation and application knowledge is required for this role in all production chemistry disciplines along with superior technical writing ability on RFP proposals and recommendations. High level of direct customer contact, building and maintaining trusted advisor relationships and working with customers to identify their chemical opportunities to optimize Total Cost of Operations.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support and Management
  • Provide technical support to technical / sales teams and customers in the Permian Basin
  • Make technical recommendations and dosages to customers for issues relating to oil and gas production.
  • Suggest monitoring procedures and KPIs to customers and assist others as needed.
  • Provide technical reports to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Attending customer technical meetings and conduct technical presentations supporting and gaining business.
Methods of Technical Support
  • Collection of field samples and / or direction or guidance of such samples.
  • Lab testing of field samples using the Midland lab and prioritizing which samples should be completed on critical, rush or standard TAT.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) support / reporting on well failures or other systems.
Building and Maintaining Customer Relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with high level technical customer production chemists or asset integrity managers.
  • Leverage customer contacts as a method of gaining additional and/or new business.
  • Ensure technical capabilities are aligned with the needs of customers and/or market segment demands.
Continuous Improvement
  • Assist in the development and roll out of new products and services that are beneficial to the business and future customer growth.
  • Train field/sales staff and customers in our products for controlling scale, corrosion, paraffin, etc. in the Permian Basin.
  • Support and assist in implementing and maintaining certified management systems ascribed to DK such as ISO 9001. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of risks and opportunities associated with their work. Maintain an understanding of the Quality policy and how they personally contribute to meeting DK objectives and goals being innovative and the premier oil field chemical company.
  • Support and assist in implementing and maintaining the RCMS program. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of the RCMS guiding principles and Dorf Ketal's HSSE policy, objectives and goals in addition to how they can contribute to them.
  • Other projects as required from management or DK initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Lead by example and mentor junior employees as needed.
  • Communicate all issues and updates to upper management.
  • Manage and assign technical activities and projects including technical personnel and lab staff as required to successfully support the region.
  • Work closely with Region Sales Manager, District Managers, and others in the sales personnel in the organization to ensure technical and customer projects are being thoroughly completed bringing value to O&G Operators.
Qualifications
  • Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Advanced computer skills including databases, complex spreadsheets, word process and presentation programs, i.e. MS Office Suite, including training, presenting, report writing, interfacing with customers daily.
  • Experience in problem resolution and interacting professionally with customers and field personnel; promptly addressing customer needs as they arise.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis understanding and experience with ability to troubleshoot and independently resolve mechanical and mathematical problems.
  • Ability to travel 25% – 60% in Permian Basin; physically able and willing to lift 50 pounds, bend, and climb stairs or uneven ground.
  • Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Engineering / Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry in a technology role with managerial experience a plus.
  • Oilfield Chemical Service safety experience, able to proficiently complete DKES Training and Safey Programs, i.e. PEC, Safeland, H2S as examples.
