MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Supervised By: Director of Nursing
Supervises: None
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, collaboratively works with several physicians and on- and off-site staff to deliver quality care to residents. Make arrangements for transportation and timely appointments for residents with work, activities, and medical appointments. Performs other clerical and records management tasks.
Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
1. Assist with staffing needs and ensures that appropriate coverage for each shift is scheduled following regulatory and union policies.
2. Schedules all clinical days for residents.
3. Appropriately files resident medical records including but not limited to records from visiting medical doctors, podiatrists, optometrists, audiologists, dentists, lab work, x-rays, ultrasounds and other records from visiting medical professionals.
4. Arranges all appointments and transportation to work and medical appointments in a timely manner.
5. Reviews and communicates with insurance providers and medical professionals for appropriate medical coverage (pre-authorizations).
6. Promotes positive relationships with residents and residents' families for updates on changes in particular resident's health and wellness. Schedules meetings between families, administration and third parties.

7. Ensures confidentiality and HIPPA compliance of all health information for residents and staff.
8. Reviews infection control procedures and other internal policies.
9. Assists the Director of Nursing and the Pinecrest Administrator with the Electronic Medical Records management system.
10. Ensures residents are treated with dignity and respect and promotes resident independence.
11. Performs other duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and by telephone, read regular and small print, view and produce written and electronic documents, and enter data on a computer keyboard with repetitive keystrokes. The employee must be mobile in an office and nursing setting, stand, sit, stoop and kneel, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift or push/pull objects of up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Accommodation will be made, as needed, for employees required to lift or move objects that exceed this weight.
The typical work environment of this job is a clinical or business office setting where the noise level is quiet to moderate. Though applicable safety procedures are documented and utilized, the incumbent may be exposed to unsanitary or unhygienic materials, individuals and situations in the course of performing required duties.Part time position. Current hourly wage starting at $17.96 - $23.37/hr (7-year progression)
