Gate City Charter School for the Arts is seeking a dedicated and creative Art Teacher to join our team. This role involves crafting and delivering an engaging, project-based curriculum for Kindergarten through 8th grade with a focus on fine arts, contemporary artists and art history. This role also includes collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate art into their curriculum by blending artistic concepts with core subjects to enhance students’ learning experiences and outcomes across all grade levels. The ideal candidate will be equally as passionate about contemporary and fine arts as they are about arts education. Gate City Charter School for the Arts is a thriving public, chartered school located in Merrimack NH; we are committed to providing innovative educational experiences by integrating the arts into all academic disciplines. We house one classroom per grade level for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, with one teacher and one educational assistant in each classroom. As a multi-grade level school we have the opportunity to create a strong sense of community and provide many opportunities for students of all ages to develop strong leadership skills. Gate City Charter School for the Arts uses an arts-integrated curriculum to develop dynamic, effective learning opportunities which inspire student excellence in academics and the arts and promote social-emotional growth. Through a variety of pathways, our students cultivate the knowledge, creativity, and inquisitive nature which will foster a love of learning. We use arts integration in every classroom as an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deliver art lessons to grades K-8 employing a wide-range of mediums and skills to reach academic and artistic objectives.
• Providea curriculum that integrates the arts with traditional academic subjects such as math, science, social studies, and language arts.
• Collaborate with other teachers to design interdisciplinary lessons that meet educational standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Engage with the school and local communities through the organization and participation in events such as art shows, workshops, field trips and visiting artists.
• Maintain a stimulating classroom environment with rich learning resources and creative instructional techniques.
• Assess student progress through both traditional and innovative evaluation methods.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and opportunities for enrichment beyond the classroom.
• Participate in professional development activities and stay current with educational methods and research pertaining to arts integration.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification.
• Proven experience in teaching at the elementary and/or middle school level, with a strong background in arts education.
• Ability to integrate the arts into various academic subjects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for arts and education.

Pay: $36,000.00 - $39,000.00 per year
