  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory school
  • Licensed in Mississippi as a CRT or RRT (RRT preferred)
  • CPR/BLS (required), ACLS (preferred), NRP (preferred), PALS (preferred)

Experience:

  • Any relevant experience or recent respiratory school graduate

Position Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) is responsible for promoting and restoring patients' health by completing the RT services; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The RT will perform duties in accordance with Physician Orders, as well as State, Federal, and Hospital policies and procedures. The incumbent must be willing to work any open shifts and remain flexible in regards to work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform inpatient and outpatient services/tests.
  • Respond to all emergency care situations.
  • Collaboration with other members of the healthcare team
  • Performs, documents, and charges appropriate treatments/services as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner
  • Setup, clean and break down oxygen delivery systems.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility staff
  • Maintains current competency associated with Respiratory Therapy by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Administer and document treatments timely and accurately.
  • Dispense Respiratory medications following policies and procedures and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations
  • Adheres to infection-control protocols
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Monitor and coordinate maintenance of equipment operation and inventory. Report any equipment or supply problems to Department Manager.
  • Check and maintain departmental supplies inventory
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

The RT must have the ability to move around freely, walk and stand for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance. The RT should be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
