DREXEL CHEMICAL is Hiring a Safety Specialist Near Memphis, TN
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws regulating plant operation including OSHA compliance.
- Work with Plant Management to help resolve identifiable issues.
- Actively develop and implement company safety procedures, including Process Safety Management Plans, Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work Permits, and PPE.
- Promote a safety culture that will minimize the number, and reduce the severity of accidents and injuries.
- Plan and conduct safety training for all employees in compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the corporate staff to manage all aspects of the company safety program including training implementation and recordkeeping, process development, and the resolution of safety issues.
- Perform routine safety inspections of all locations to ensure conformity with company protocols and procedures.
- Respond to safety incidents and other violations of the company safety policy, perform root causes analyses, and recommend corrective/preventive action plans.
- 4 year college degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1-2 years of Supervisory/Management experience is preferred.
- High level of communication skills, as the position entails a lot of training and interaction with plant management and personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, accident rate reduction strategies, and safety training.
- Basic working knowledge of chemical unit operations, including manufacturing and packaging.
